Ross Taylor No7 Surfing Competition

February 2015 Newsletter

32 Divisions- 450 Surfers- 50 Hours of Surfing-3 Days of Fun-1 Lifetime of memories.

We are back to a 3 day long weekend this year. 8th to 10th August 2015. So the organisers have up the ante this year. More surfers, more surf and more fun. The past 6 years have been memorable with the contest having some of the best surf Buffels has ever seen. We have also had a German Naval attack in the form of the “Kani”, trying to muscle in on some Ross Taylor time. Who can forget the awesome parties that were held in storm wind conditions, also the first-time SUPpers were invited to come surf a contest alongside short and longboarders. The Beggars division being the only kneeboard competition in the country, hence the winners ability to claim to being “SA Champ”. The insane logistics of surfing 400 surfers in one day over three arenas. Our ever growing grommet divisions, where our younger surfer crowd can share the stoke of a surf contest. Herman’s Surfer Kids group, getting bigger and bigger both in numbers and age. We have had whales and dolphins come to join us

All this in the aid of Hospice, and the brainchild of Ross Taylor, fellow surfer and friend, whose love of the ocean, surfing and fun, whose legacy inspired us to keep the biggest and funnest Surf Contest in the world going, year after year.

The whole of Buffels accommodation gets booked out, so book your house and plan your surf trip.

The contest caters not only for surfers but has beach activities, photo opportunities, party venues and is the perfect place to braai. The contest prides itself on being a family affair with plenty to do for the non-surfer, even wives will be pleasantly surprised.
